Run for the Son May 2009

On Sunday May 31st at about 8:30am this crew was ready for the annual Run For the Son. This is the culmination of the fund raising for CMA Canada. This year as in the past we are heading to Oak Lake, MB.
One of the members of our chapter lives there and the his congregation has invited the CLR members to their church service.
As always they are treating us to lunch as well.
The day broke with a threat of rain and a temp of 9c with a wind from the north that was bitterly cold and sharp.
Shoal Lake is about 1.5 hours north/ west of Brandon. Note Gene on the far left has just been out of the hospital for a few weeks with a lower back operation. he and Helen are taking the quad to Shoal Lake.
After the service and lunch, we connected with another three bikes and headed to Riding Mountain and Clear Lake for coffee and ice cream. The day turned out to be sunny with the temp reaching a balmy 15c. Eventually we got back to Brandon for supper at the Chinese buffet.

Seasons Of Refreshing and Run For The Son

OK you bikers listen up!
CMA Seasons of Refreshing is a renewal of the biking season for members of CMA in Canada. This year the event is being held in Morden Manitoba, April 24th and 25th. It's open to all bikers but you need to register. Click Here It does not look like the weather is going to be nice enough to chance a motorcycle trip, but if your interested you can call 204-727 3605 and perhaps we can arrange for you to team up with another to reduce the cost.

Another event out of Brandon is our annual Run For The Son. This is the event that finalizes the fund-raising efforts of the Association with a formal motorcycle day trip. This year CLR is traveling to Shoal Lake Manitoba on May 31st. This takes most of the day starting off with 8:00 a.m breakfast at Smitty's on the North Hill. Leave Brandon for Shoal Lake at 9:30 sharp! Have lunch at the Baptist Church in Shoal Lake. If it's a nice day we may go over to Riding Mountain then back to Brandon to have dinner together if there is time. It's open to all riders as well and we appreciate new riders to join us. If your interested and need to know more please call 204-727 3605

Items of interest for November and December

December
The only interesting thing so far was our annual get together for food and fun. Once again we gathered at Hank and Grace's home. This was our Christmas meeting for 2008. No we don't have an Imam instead of a chaplain this is just Ken playing the part.
After some games( no crash videos) this year and the group was still akin to herding cats when you try to get things organized. We had fun and no gas was burned.
Those that you can see below are Steve, Gene Helen and Judy. On the right is Bruce ,Jim and Craig. This was after the supper that was greatly enjoyed by all.
Merry Christmas to all from the members of CLR Brandon

November 2008

Not much to say about November, the only interesting thing that went on without the motorcycles was the election of the Executive for 2009. Not as interesting as the US and certainly not as goofy as the Canadian Liberals coronation, but and election of sorts.
The President : Grace
The Vice President : Merl
The Secretary : Susan
The Treasurer : Leo
The Road Captain : Ken
The Chaplain : Bruce

BCC visit Sept 20th 2008

Once again CLR took the day to meet, greet and mingle with over 60 prisoners in the Brandon Correctional Centre. This has been an annual event for about 6 years. This year we missed members of the Winnipeg Chapter but those that came from as far away as Dauphin made the event a success for our chapter. I have noted that since attending at BCC, the interaction with inmates have been increasing. One on one prayers with individuals are increasing. All the tracs we have are scooped up and we trust that these are all seeds that will grow in the hearts of the men and women in this place. Here are pictures of the group that attended. The day was bright, but there was a cold wind blowing. The picture of the members at the gate is a bit funny because the gate was very hard to open and we did not want to get stuck in that compound.
