Items of interest for November and December

December
The only interesting thing so far was our annual get together for food and fun. Once again we gathered at Hank and Grace's home. This was our Christmas meeting for 2008. No we don't have an Imam instead of a chaplain this is just Ken playing the part.
After some games( no crash videos) this year and the group was still akin to herding cats when you try to get things organized. We had fun and no gas was burned.
Those that you can see below are Steve, Gene Helen and Judy. On the right is Bruce ,Jim and Craig. This was after the supper that was greatly enjoyed by all.
Merry Christmas to all from the members of CLR Brandon

November 2008

Not much to say about November, the only interesting thing that went on without the motorcycles was the election of the Executive for 2009. Not as interesting as the US and certainly not as goofy as the Canadian Liberals coronation, but and election of sorts.
The President : Grace
The Vice President : Merl
The Secretary : Susan
The Treasurer : Leo
The Road Captain : Ken
The Chaplain : Bruce

BCC visit Sept 20th 2008

Once again CLR took the day to meet, greet and mingle with over 60 prisoners in the Brandon Correctional Centre. This has been an annual event for about 6 years. This year we missed members of the Winnipeg Chapter but those that came from as far away as Dauphin made the event a success for our chapter. I have noted that since attending at BCC, the interaction with inmates have been increasing. One on one prayers with individuals are increasing. All the tracs we have are scooped up and we trust that these are all seeds that will grow in the hearts of the men and women in this place. Here are pictures of the group that attended. The day was bright, but there was a cold wind blowing. The picture of the members at the gate is a bit funny because the gate was very hard to open and we did not want to get stuck in that compound.

Cruzin Dauphin 2008

August 31st, the day was gray and cool. Seven motorcycles from the CLR including a guest rider and his partner headed to Scott Allen's church in Dauphin Manitoba. This was about a 2 hour trip north through Riding Mountain National Park. Scott was hosting a pancake breakfast for the community in support of Cruzin Dauphin. This was the first time for this church to participate in this way. Other than seeing a moose on the way, the ride was uneventful. President of CLR Grace presented Scott with his CMA Ministry Certificate of completion. Bruce and Hank gave testimonials of God's work in them. After a feed of pancakes members scooted over to the park to watch stock car races and car and motorbike tire burn-outs. It was a full day by the time we arrived in Brandon.

July 1st Happy Birthday Canada

July 1st is the time to celebrate Canada's birthday. In Brandon CLR members celebrated by doing a special ride. We opted to go to Portage La Prairie and meet with the Winnipeg Chapter for lunch. We then went on to take Hwy. 16 west and headed off to Neepawa the next stop for fuel and Ice cream.
As we were heading north/west, the wind came up and it was blowing a lot of smoke from fires in Northern Saskatchewan. After leaving Neepawa, we went south towards Minnedosa and back to Brandon. Here are a few action shots of special people doing what they love to do. Top left Rodger, Top right Mike and Sharon, Bottom left Jim and Jeanie, Bottom right Leo, Denis and Steve and Pam.

BBQ at the Skating Oval Feb 23, 2008

Over the week-end of Feb 23-24 Members of CLR organized a fund raiser for Run For The Son 2008. The ideal was to sell hot-dogs, smokies, coffee and other drinks to make some money for RFTS, have fun and enjoy doing things with each other, and present the members of CLR to public. We had great cooperation from the City of Brandon and the Discovery Center that manages this great Skating Oval. Sales of hot chocolate were brisk, we dished up over a hundred hot-dogs and smokies, all the members participated and those that did enjoyed doing that event. We did not achieve the budget that we thought, but it was a win-win-win for all parties. Praise God!
In the picture top left are Gene and Helen sampling the hot chocolate, then Glenda, Leo, Ken, Merl, and Jim the cook, all at the concession shack at the Oval, next is Jim the cookie.

2008 Run For The Son Fundraising is on

Run for the Son is CMA's annual fundraiser. Here is how 100% of funds are distributed

30 % for Bibles to "Restricted Access" Countries through Open Doors
The Run for the Son is making a difference for the persecuted church by supplying it with much needed Bibles and study materials using the experience of Open Doors with Brother Andrew

30 % for Motorcycles for Native Pastors through Missionary Ventures
Through the expertise of Missionary Ventures, CMA's Run for the Son provides transportation for native Christian leaders to expand out into difficult areas to reach.

40 % to reach motorcyclists through the Christian Motorcyclists Association of Canada.
The annual Run for the son campaign equips members with the tools and training needed to spread the gospel message amongst the motorcycling community - going where the churches cannot go.
To donate to this worthwhile ministry and partner with us in Changing the World one Heart at a time contact any member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association of Canada.

Jan 2008, New member CMA/CLR Chapter

Introducing Bruce Ewanyshyn of Brandon. Bruce was born in Winnipeg and is a graduate of the University of Winnipeg. He is employed with the Brandon Police Services and is currently involved with the Forensic Identification Unit. Bruce is very involved in training at BPS and lists his interest as his love for Christ, daily weight training, biblical reading and motorcycling. CLR welcomes Bruce's interest in the CMA Ministry and we all look forward to getting to know Bruce much better during the riding season.
